At NOVA, we believe that delivering high-quality cast components starts with precision, innovation, and a seamless process from concept to container. To provide transparency and better service to our global customers, we’re sharing an overview of the typical production flow and estimated timeline for a standard tall container order.
Step 1: Design & Mold Development
Every product starts with a smart design. Our engineering team customizes casting designs based on the intended function of the product, taking into account factors such as shape, weight, size, and material.
Once finalized, we move to mold making—a crucial stage. Whether using metal or sand molds, each is built to withstand the high temperatures of molten metal and replicate exact dimensions and contours.
Step 2: Raw Material Preparation
Material selection is tailored to performance needs—cast iron, aluminum alloys, or specialty steels. These metals are then melted using advanced induction or electric furnaces, ensuring purity and consistency for the next stage.
Step 3: Precision Pouring
Molten metal is carefully poured into molds at controlled temperatures and speeds. This step is critical—avoiding premature cooling or trapped air bubbles is essential to preserve casting integrity and structure.
Step 4: Controlled Cooling & Solidification
Once poured, the castings cool within the mold. Depending on size and complexity, this phase can take several hours to days. During cooling, we closely monitor crystallization behavior to secure optimal mechanical strength.
Step 5: Demolding & Surface Cleaning
After cooling, castings are demolded—either by breaking sand molds or using mechanical tools for metal molds. We then clean the raw castings by grinding or sandblasting to remove burrs and any surface imperfections.
Step 6: Inspection & Finishing
Each component undergoes strict dimensional and visual inspections to ensure compliance with design standards. Depending on the application, castings may also receive heat treatment, coating, or precision machining to enhance durability and finish.
Please note: The final cost and lead time will depend on customization requirements, raw material specifications, local regulations, and delivery destination.
